    Miami Valley Age-Friendly Summit

    This event is designed for a leadership audience, gathering civic, nonprofit, and business leaders for a fruitful conversation about two top categories of need:
    (1) Employment & Civic Engagement; (2) Housing.

    Joe Morgan, former CEO of Standard Register, will deliver our opening keynote where the focus is on creating new pathways for modern elders to stay engaged in work, albeit in a more flexible “gig” capacity. Then it’s on to our expert panel who will weigh in on housing trends for older adults.

    You're invited to Code:You Demo Day!

    Some of the best and brightest graduates from our cohort that kicked off in August 2023 will demonstrate their capstone projects and answer questions for an audience of potential employers, fellow students, mentors, and community partners. Employers in attendance will have the opportunity to utilize breakout rooms after the presentations to interact with participants. Code:You will provide employers with copies of all participant resumes afterward, as well as a recording of the event.

    Do you work in local government and want/need to brush up on your Excel skills?

    After twenty years of working with local government, and sometimes overhearing the phone calls you receive, I’m well aware that you all are underappreciated! As a small gesture of our huge appreciation, we are offering a special, local government focused lunch and training event. To keep it “legal”, there is a small cost to cover expenses. Keep reading below for more details. Though this event is offered in honor of National Public Works Week, anyone from local government is welcome to attend. Note: Seating is limited to 50 and we expect seats to fill quickly.

    Title: Understanding Susceptibility to Phising
    Presenter
    : James D. Robinson, Professor, University of Dayton
    Date and Time: Wed., May 22, at 10 a.m. 

    Overview: This presentation focuses on why people are susceptible to phishing attacks even after they have received traditional rule-based training. Some faulty assumptions about why people are susceptible and what can be done to reduce victimization. I believe you will leave the presentation with a different outlook on phishing and cybersecurity training.

    Bio: James D. Robinson is a Professor in the Department of Communication and Professor of Practice in the Center for Cybersecurity & Data Intelligence at the University of Dayton. He joined the University in 1982 and served as the Director of Graduate Studies for more than fifteen years. In addition to co-authoring two books, he has published 50 refereed journal articles, written 30 book chapters and presented more than a hundred conference presentations.
